The Bolivar Commercial, Wednesday, January 14, 2009: Cassandra Marie Wilson, 17, of Sumner died Monday, January 12, 2009, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Sumner First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Morgan and the Rev. William Milan officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner, under the direction of Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Ruleville.

She was a student at North Sunflower Academy. She was the bright morning star and angel of her family's eyes. She did not like to blow her own whistle, but had many accomplishments. She was an MPSA district spelling champion her sixth and seventh grade years. She attended the state geography bee. She received highest academic achievements every year. She served as student council secretary, vice president and president. She made a 30 on the ACT and received a full scholarship to Mississippi University for Women. She loved God and participated in and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was active and involved in all things youth related. She worked after school at the Sumner Drug Store.

She is survived by father, Haywood Wilson Jr.; mother, Connie Wilson of Sumner; maternal grandmother, Sara Rosanond of Drew; paternal grandmother, Margaret Wilson of Glendora, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Mitchell, Rex Kelly, Matthew Fortner, Ryan Dees, Chris Butler, John Hodges and Mack Haynes. Honorary pallbearer will be Charley Frances.
