The son of Zarubbabel and Mary (Smith)Endecott. Joseph was christened on July 17, 1672 at the First Church, Salem, Massachusetts. He Married Hannah Gossling in 1698 in Burlington Co., NJ. He died in Northampton, what is now Mount Holly.
Joseph was a Quaker and gave his son, Joseph, Jr, only 5 shillings as an inheritance for marrying "out of meeting". That means he married a woman who was not a Quaker. Gov. John Endecott, Joseph's grandfather, did what he could to suppress the Quaker movement.
