MASON CITY, IL - Helen Irene Conklin, 84, of Mason City died at 1:07 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Mason City Area Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 11, 1916, in Murrayville to Fred and Mary O'Brien Simpson, she married Raymond C. Conklin. They later divorced.
Surviving are two sons, John (and Rose) of Athens, Ill., and David (and Kelly) of Salem; two daughters, Linda Conklin of Cantrall and Melanie (and Jim) Blane of Mason City; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
A teacher, she taught high school English and German in the communities of Kings, Kilbourne, Murrayville and Easton.
She attended MacMurray College and graduated from University of Illinois in 1937. She was a member of American Association of University Women.
She was a member of Easton United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Larry Rodgers will officiate. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.
