Birth: 1834
Death: May, 1880

- Mrs. B. Galligan died Saturday morning,
May 8, 1880. Aged 46 years and 4 months.
Deceased was a native of the State of
New York, whence she removed with her
parents to near Galena, Illinois, about thir-
ty-five years ago. In the year 1868 her hus-
band died, leaving her with an only child,
a daughter, who in 1870, was married at
Benton, Wisconsin, to Mr. F. J. Kelley. In
1872, the family removed to this place. In
1873 the daughter died, leaving a little girl
babe to the care of the deceased. From
that time to the present she assumed the
care and education of the child, and kept a
home for her son-in-law. No lady was more
highly respected in the community, and
many will shed a tear over her dust in
memory of her profuse charity to the poor
during the memorable year, 1874. And
now she has gone to meet her reward in
that Home where tears are never known.
The funeral services were conducted in the
Catholic Church on Sunday afternoon from
whence her remains were followed to the
cemetery by a large concourse of sympath-
izing friends.
