Chica Elizabeth Crady
Birth: Apr. 19, 2003
New Albany
Floyd County
Indiana, USA
Death: Sep. 8, 2009
Georgetown
Floyd County
Indiana, USA

Chica Elizabeth Crady, a miniature Pomeranian, Sire: Dakota Corydon Hines and Dame: Katie Elizabeth Hines. Chica's first owner didn't treat her right and really didn't want her. Chica kept getting out of her house and yard and coming to my house. One day, the little girl asked me if I wanted to trade a puppy for Chica. I jumped at it because I loved Chica and she loved us.
I gave her to Tyler, my grandson and his Mom, Christal. That was before Karissa was born. Chica loved it when Karissa got big enough to sit in her high chair and drop food on the floor.

After the trade, the puppy got sick and died, because it had parvo before I got it back. Chica got it too. She went to the Doctor and had to stay for a week but she made it. She heard my voice in the front office when I was checking on her and started yelping. The doctor laughed because Chica knew who was there.

Chica finally got her a boyfriend from the neighborhood and gave birth to Libby on 7/4/07. Then she gave birth to another puppy on 1/6/08.

In Sept 2008, Chica got real sick and the Doctor found that fleas had bit her so bad that she didn't have any blood left. She was allergic to fleas. She had to have a blood transfusion and if she got any fleas on her again, she would die. She cheated death again for the second time.

On Sept 4, 2009, the family was headed to KY for a fun filled Labor Day weekend at the lake and visit with relatives. On the walk down to the lake, she jumped up on Christal's leg twice to tell her to carry her. Christal let her get inside the carrier so she didn't have to walk in the wet grass.

They came back home on Sept 7. Chica was riding on Christal's lap but she got up and went to the backseat of the truck where Tyler and Karissa were sleeping. She must have jumped up on the backseat and the open back window. The wind pulled her out of the truck and Butchie saw her while she was flying in the air. The wind probably picked her up as soon as she jumped on the backseat. She only weighed about 4 lbs.

Chica had a hurt leg when they found her but she was walking and seemed okay. Christal took Chica to see her Doctor on Sept 8. Exrays were taken which showed her hip was out of socket. She will need surgery. During the surgery, Chica died. The doctor tried to revive her but found that her heart and lungs were bruised from the trauma.

Butchie built a coffin for her and she was buried in the side yard. Tyler wanted her to have her doggie pillow and Karissa wanted her to have her little blanket that she slept on in the carrier. She was buried with them. Christal is getting her a stone marker.

While digging her grave, Butchie dug too close to the hamster's grave and dug his coffin up. (A small necklace case) So they put the hamster next to Chica's coffin to keep her company.

Tyler said he will have more dogs but nobody will ever take the place of Chica because she's in his heart.

Note: Thank you for all of the nice thoughts and tokens, May you always have the love of a pet in your life.
