Obituary from Helena's Independent Record 8/07/2005:

Colton Ray Conroy, son of Lyndon and Sandi Conroy (formerly of Colstrip), died in a tragic 4-wheeler accident near the family home in Helena on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005.

Colton was born March 5, 1991, in Billings. He grew up in Colstrip, attending Pine Butte Elementary and Frank Brattin Middle School. Colton had many friends and was active in school. He excelled in the Gifted and Talented Program and Academic Olympics.

Colton had many gifts. He was excellent in mechanics and creating things with his hands. He enjoyed working with his dad and mom building projects like trellises, birdhouses, and anything that had to do with trucks, dirt, mud, hats and pins. He and his dad spent many hours together restoring their 1946 Willy's Jeep.

Coming from a large extended family, Colton had wonderful childhood experiences that spanned the state of Montana. From camping and boating at Seeley Lake, to exploring the mountains at the family ranch in Pryor, Colton's roots run far and deep. His gentle presence and continual smile will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was so proud of all of the deer he had taken. The deer sausage and jerky he made proved to be a favorite with all of his family and friends. He was a fierce protector of his friends, especially Austin Rogers and Taylor Ramsey of Colstrip. And, he loved all small creatures, especially his dog, Sadie and hamster, Spanky.

Colton's life touched many others and his loss will be felt forever.

Colton was gifted but to us, he was a "Gift." He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Colleen Conroy.

Survivors include his parents, Lyndon and Sandi Conroy, and Loretta Barnes; his sister, Jennifer Nebel; brother, Blaine Barnes; and sister, Hannah Bockness; grandparents, CY and Joan Baker, Tom Conroy, and Dean and Ruth Barnes; uncles, Mike Baker and Dave (Sue) Baker of Great Falls; Harlan (Angie) Conroy of Hardin; Tyke (Keller) Conroy; and Danny Barnes of Gillette, Wyo.; aunts, Darcy (Terry) Daugherty of Missoula; Laurie (Mark) Arrow of Seeley Lake; Denise (Phil) Wood of Barney; Shelly (Willie) Ralston; and Molly (Jack) Joyce of Hardin; numerous cousins and special friends including, Donna Rogers, Becky Thelen, Ed Snider, Lon Jensen, Steve O'Toole, and Grampa Ray and Gramma Blanche.

Go with God, Colty. Our paths will meet again in Heaven. We love you so much.
