Donald E. Wood, 88, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his home.
Born Oct. 22, 1925 in Wanda, he was a son of Edwin and Louise (Ahrens) Wood.
He married L. Jean Horstman on Aug. 28, 1948 in Alton. She passed away Nov. 20, 2013.
Don was a U.S. Marine who served his country in both World War II. He worked as a US Postal Service letter carrier for the Edwardsville Post Office.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Eschbacher of Alton; two sons, Mike Wood of Roxana and David (Jennifer) Wood of Lincolnton, Ga.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Bernice Bosich of Wood River and Louise Taggart of Scottsdale, Ariz.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Wood.
A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Church, 196 S. Moreland Road in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church.
