Singer, Songwriter, Musician. Born Daniel Earl Hartman, he joined his first band at the age of 13, played keyboards and wrote much of the band's music. In 1972, he joined the Edgar Winter Group, played bass on three of their albums and wrote the band's second biggest pop hit "Free Ride". He launched a solo career in 1976 and wrote the song "Instant Replay" which hit number 1 on the disco charts. His other hits included "Heart of the Beat", "We Are The Young", "Second Nature", "Why Should I Worry?" and "I Can Dream About You", which was used in the film "Streets of Fire" (1984). He also re-recorded a version of "Free Ride" which used in the film "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" (1995). (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
