Leroy C. SWARTZEL, 62, Rt. 1, Twelve Mile, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1926 in Cass County to Roy C. and Thelma Mildred GIFFIN
SWARTZEL. He was married Jan. 20, 1951 in Cass County to Eleanor HORN, who survives. He
was a farmer and had been a school bus driver for Caston Schools for 23 years. He was a member
of the Walton American Legion, the South Bend Scottish Rite, the Fulton Masonic Lodge of
which he was a past master, and the Metea Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving with the wife are a son, Eric L. [SWARTZEL], Rt. 1, Lucerne; a daughter,
Melissa A. HUGHES, Goshen; the mother, of Galveston; a brother, Clifton [SWARTZEL], Sandy
Valley, Nev.; a sister, Ilene CRITES, Galveston, and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral
Home in Logansport with the Rev. Bryan CLEMENS officiating. Burial will be in the Metea
Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Masonic service will be
at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Metea Baptist Church
