Bridgeport did not have a hospital and is right across the Ohio/WV border, therefore he was born in Wheeling but the family lived in Bridgeport until 1939 when they moved to Cleveland. He served in the Marine Corp. from 7/10/1944 to 8/17/1946 and was Honorably Discharged as a Private First Class.
Hank was 27 when he married Janet Ann Berigan, she was 20, on July 28, 1953 at at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 9205 Superior Ave., Cleveland, Ohio. The ceremony was performed by his brother Rev. Mark Hochevar.
They had three girls listed above.
He worked in tool control at a major company for 37 years and retired in 1989.
Hank and Jan celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in July 1993 and lived in Willoughby, Ohio in the house they built in 1957 until his death.
He loved listening and going to opera performances and walks every day. Enjoyed watching hockey and auto racing. He had nine grandchildren.
Hank was 5'8" tall, with brown eyes & brown hair which is not gray -- what's left of it!!
Hank had a heart attack in 1995 which he survived. His brother died from a heart attack in Jan. 1977 & his sister died five months later in June 1977. Hank passed away on Jan. 30, 2003 at age 77. He is buried at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Medina.
