JAMES STIRLING GLENN enlisted as a Private for the Union in the Civil War in Battery A, Pennsylvania 6th Heavy Artillery Regiment on September 1, 1864 and mustered out on June 13 1865 at Fort Ethan Allen, Virginia.
James was a carpenter by trade, and was married on September 27, 1865 to Emeline McCandless of Centre Township, Butler, Pennsylvania. They had six known children: Jennie, Milton, Mary, John, Cora and Annie.
They lived most of their married lives in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
