GEORGE ANSON HILKIRK served the Union in the Civil War as a Private assigned to Company F, 61st Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania on 1 Aug 1861, and received a disability discharge from the same Company on 15 Jul 1863.

George Anson Hilkirk was the son of Francis and Nancy Hilkirk of Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He was one of 10 known children born to the Hilkirks according to the 1850 and 1860 Federal census records.
After the war he married Ophelia J. Jennings. They lived in Mercer County, Pennsylvania until sometime before the 1900 census was taken. In 1900 the census shows them living in Youngstown, Ohio. George remained living in Ohio until his death in 1919, which was recorded in the Ohio Death Records of 1908-1932.
