Ogdensburg Journal - August 27, 1901
Jennie M. Rodee, wife of Gilbert A. Schellenger, and only daughter of Henry Rodee, of this city, entered into rest Aug 27, 1901. She was born at Potsdam NY June 19, 1856, and resided there and at Plattsburgh during her early life, removing with her father to Ogdensburg in May 1866, where by her winning ways and her cheerful and loving heart, she made hosts of friends, who feel their loss and mourn her departure.
On January 30, 1883, she was united in marriage with Gilbert A. Schellenger, a prominent architect of New York city, where she had since resided. Her declining health necessitating a change of climate, she went last June to the Adirondacks; but the high altitude, pure air and the very best medical skill failed to restore her; therefore the last of October she returned to her father's home in Ogdensburg, receiving the loving care of her dearest friends until she descended into the valley which divine grace had so alighted up for her that she feared not to enter. The bereaved husband and loving father and brother and friends have the deepest sympathy of the entire community.
