Shafer, 75, at Bucyrus City hospital, at 4:10 o'clock Friday morning. Mrs. Shafer was taken to the hospital the following day after the accident and had since been in a serious condition.

Mrs. Shafer was born January 11, 1865, in Wyandot County, the daugher of Martin and Eva (Simonis) Courtad. She was united in marriage with Clinton Shafer, who survives. One son, William Shafer, was killed in an automobile accident several years ago. Surviving are two sons, Robert A. Shafer and Harry F. Lowry, of northeast of this city; and Mrs. Harry Houser of North Seventh Street, also three brothers; Anthony Courtad, of Norwalk; Michael Courtad, of Carey, and Albert Courtad, of east of town.

She was one of a family of ten sons and four daughters, the following brothers and one sister having preceeded in death: Charles, Henry, Joseph, George, Frank, Martin and James Courtad, and Mrs. Magdalena Strasser.

Mrs. Shafer was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church in this city. She leaves a host of friends. She lived in the local community all her life.

The funeral will be held Monday morning, with services at 9 o'clock from the Bringham & Co. funeral home, followed by services at 9:30 o'clock at St. Peter's Catholic church, in charge of Rev. William J. McKeown. Interment will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery.
