Artist, primarily a portrait painter. Henriette Wyeth Hurd was known for her artwork depicting women's portraits. Amongst the better known oils are of the stage and screen actress Helen Hayes and U.S. First Lady Patricia Nixon. As the daughter as well as the sister of the famed artists, N.C.Wyeth and his son Andrew Wyeth, her upbringing was centered around artistic endeavors plus a lifestyle that encouraged creating. Her talent was often over-shadowed by the males in her family. Today, her works are highly sought and are enhancing in value. Hennriette Hurd was buried next to her husband, fellow artist Peter Hurd. They were enterred at their family homeplace, 'Sentinel Ranch,' near San Patricio, New Mexico. (bio: Audrey Burtrum-Stanley)
