Obituary:
Wayne Martin Rich Jr., 52, a native of Leavenworth, died peacefully at his home Sunday, May 28, 2006.

Wayne was born March 10, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Wayne Sr. and Mary Jo (Schmidt) Rich. He graduated from Leavenworth High School and served in the United States Air Force as a nuclear missile technician. He was self-employed in construction and guttering. Wayne was an avid fisherman and bowler. He was a Catholic.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda Wingo-Rich; his mother, Mary Jo Rich; and his children: Valerie Rich of Tampa, Florida; Bill (Gina) Rich of Leavenworth; Holly Anne Wright; Katherine Rich of Leavenworth; Wayne R. Rich of Leavenworth; Jesse Rich of Leavenworth; and Dale Wilson of Tonganoxie. He is also survived by two aunts, Ellen Schmidt of Panama, Iowa, and Theresa Guana of Lawrence, and his two uncles, Richard Schmidt of Panama, Iowa, and George Schmidt of Wichita.

Additional survivors include his three brothers, Stephen Rich and Pat (Karen) Rich, all of Leavenworth, and Mike (Patty) Rich of Boynton Beach, Florida, as well as four sisters, Christine Perez of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Mary Ellen (Martin) Mooradian of Springfield, Virginia, Cindy (Mike) Fraser of Leavenworth, Elizabeth (Gordon) Sandercox of Lubbock, Texas, and Veronica (Robert) Carroll of Weatherby Lake, Missouri.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Victoria Rich, Trent Rich, Ethan Woods, and Tyler Williams. He had seventeen nieces and nephews.

No public visitation is planned. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Leavenworth, with the Rev. Phil Winkelbauer as celebrant. A committal service with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
