Johnnie was one of 9 children and a lifetime resident of Locust Grove. He attended school at Cave Springs School as a child, leaving school at an early age to help his family farming and ranching duties. Johnnie married Clara E. Sanford on December 21, 1935 in Locust Grove. They had 7 children from their union and raised them all in Locust Grove. Johnnie worked for the Local Iron Union # 584 in Tulsa. He also farmed and ranched some during his working years. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and also loved various different types of hunting. His hunting led him to love raising and taking care of his hunting dogs too and one of his dogs won a national championship many years ago for which he was very proud.
