Charles William "Kayo" Gehret, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 1, 2012 in Middletown. He was born on January 12, 1927, to James and Lorraine (Leidigh) Gehret of Highspire. Charles married Betty Arlene Geary Gehret in 1951. He is survived by two children: Genine Gehret of DeKalb Junction, NY; Gregg Gehret (wife Diane) of Hummelstown, PA, three granddaughters: Talia Keiser (husband Josh); Corinn Horvat (husband Justin), Tanya Gehret; one grandson, Gregg Rubinic (wife Holly) and three great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Braiden and Cameron. Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Arlene Gehret in 2011 and his youngest son, Charles Forrest Gehret in 1998. Charlie and his wife Betty were well-known in the Central Pennsylvania Area. He was a Professional Photographer, whose business, the Charles Gehret Studio, served the area for over 50 years, making photographic keepsakes for thousands upon thousands of people over this time period. Charles was a U S Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII having served in Okinawa, Japan. He was a private pilot, an avid builder and "fixit" man, and an animal lover. His great sense of humor and infectious smile were both equally as famous as his photographic talents. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 210 Main Street, Hummelstown, on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. He will be interred with his wife Betty at a later time at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. K.M. Knight Funeral Home, Highspire is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Charles M. Gehret to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
