Philip Christian Dederer, 51, of Gaithersburg, MD, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died suddenly on March 25, 2012. He was the loving father of Stuart Gordon Dederer; former spouse of Sally Davidson Rhodes; beloved son of Susan K. Dederer and the late John D. Dederer; brother of Stephen D. Dederer, Suzanne M. Dederer and the late Richard R. Dederer and devoted companion of Stephanie J. Mitchell.
Phil graduated from Mechanicsburg HS and the Virginia Military Institute. He received two Master's degrees from University of Pittsburgh. After serving 20 years in the U.S. Army he retired and was working as a program manager for the Dept of Defense, supporting Military Health Systems. He enjoyed traveling, spending time on Long Beach Island, cooking and skiing. His quick wit and jokes will be missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 205 South Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery, to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
