Moa Martinson
Birth: Nov. 2, 1890
Death: Aug. 5, 1964

Author. Born Helga Maria Schwartz. One of Sweden's most eminent female proletary writers, in her writing always taking a stand for the weak and the poor. In 1929 she married the renowned author and Nobel Prize receiver Harry Martinson. She made her debute in 1933 with the novel "Kvinnan och äppelträdet". But she really made her name with the autobiographical trilogy about "Mia" - "Mor gifter sig" (1936), "Kyrkbröllop" (1938) and "Kungens Rosor" (1939). A constant theme in her books was friendship between women. In 1986 a film about her life was made - "Moa - en kvinnas kärlek och längtan".  (bio by: Peter Robsahm)
