Mr. Wells was born September 21, 1941, in Donley County, TX. He married Cleta McEntire on December 22, 1966, at Wheeler, TX. He had been a Skellytown resident since 1972, moving from Reydon. In 1977, he went to work for Cabot and worked for Groendyke for five years prior to that. In addition, he was a country and western singer and songwriter.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Skellytown and Loyal Order of the Moose in Pampa, TX and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1961-65.
Survivors include his wife, Cleta, of the home; two daughters, Shelly Edwards of Amarillo, TX and Traysha Newsom of Quanah, TX; a son Richard Wells of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Freda Johnson of North Vernon, Inc., and Billie Sibley of Fritch, TX; two brothers, John Wells and William wells, both of Reydon, OK and four grandchildren.
His parents are:
William Frederick Wells (1908 – 1947) and Lila Grace Wells (1913 – 1995).
