Junior Yerton was born to Calvin Nathaniel Yerton and Rose Maple Lilly (Finley) Yerton, of Wichita, Kansas. While a teenager, he moved with his family to Southern California.
Junior was married three times. First, to Lois Teakle and the marriage was annulled. Second, to Mary Ellen Egan the only child of Peter Joseph Egan and Sylvia Faye (Strohmeyer) Egan. Junior and Mary raised three children, Wayne Dennis, Diana Rose and Bruce Patrick until their divorce in 1961. Later, he was married for a third time, to Bonnie Lou (Lattin) Thompson, until her death in 1998.
From 1984 to 2001 Junior lived in Klamath Falls, Oregon. At the time of his death he was living with his oldest son in Norwalk, California. Junior's cremains were returned to Klamath Falls and buried next to his third wife.
