Services for Samuel "Sam" Monroe Ball, 96, of Breckenridge, were held at First Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Harper officiating. Ball died at his ranch home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Ball was a lifelong resident of Stephens County and died three miles from the log cabin in which he was born. He was a rancher. He was close to the oldest member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattleraiser's Association, a charter member of National Cattlemen's Association, an acreage donor to Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch, receiver of numerous Soil Conservation's awards, and belonged to the Roughneck Bible Class at First Baptist Church where he was a member.
Preceded him in death were his wife - Una; son - Glen; two infant daughters.
Survivors: daughter - Frances Donnell; sister - Faye Sanders; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
