Royalton - Bill B. Corse, 67, of Royalton, died Friday, November 4, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Hurst, with Pastor Randy Grace officiating. Burial will be in Miner's Cemetery in Royalton. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Bill was born on December 26, 1943, in Hurst to Ralph W. and Emogene (Langston) Corse. He married Joan Vaughn Smith on June 17, 1992, in Hurst.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Corse of Royalton; son, Brett Corse of DeSoto; step-son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Cristie Smith of DuQuoin; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Shawn Ingram of Christopher and Jana and John Ronan of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Draven Glasco of Carterville, Curtis Pfeiffer of DuQuoin, Erin Smith of St. Louis, Jana Smith of Marion, Daniel Ronan and Elizabeth Ronan, both of Gainesville, Fla.; aunt, Muriel Cook of Royalton; uncles and aunts, Joe and Betty Langston of Springfield and Charles "Chink" and Frieda Langston of Maryville, Tenn.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Julie Ann Corse.
He worked for IDOT in Carbondale as a highway engineer for more than 30 years. Bill was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hurst, where he served as deacon and trustee. He was also active in Hurst Classmates and helped design and install the monument on the northwest side of the town square. He enjoyed collecting model cars, trains and airplanes. Bill had strong faith in God, a generous heart, and amazing commitment to his family and anyone in need.
