Officer Sherm Drake was called to Joplin yesterday by the death of his brother-in-law Adam Frakes who married his sister Miss Fannie Drake. Mr. and Mrs. Frakes lived here awhile some nine years ago.
Mr. Frakes death was caused by blood poisoning. He sustained a fracture of the leg below the knee while tending a crusher at the Rabbit Foot mine about three weeks ago. He got along all right until blood poisoning set in. He was then taken to the Joplin Hospital and his leg was cut off at the thigh Tuesday in an effort to save his life. Death resulted next morning at about 7:20 o'clock however. The deceased was about 45 years old.
The deceased is survived by his wife and two grown daughters, Mrs. Jos. Devall of Joplin and Miss Minnie Frakes.
