Edward John Riley was born on October 23, 1888, to Charles & Della (Jones) Riley. In 1908, he started the Shabbona Creamery with his brother Roy. On April 20, 1910, he married Eulalah D. Malsbury. Edward lived in Mayville with his wife where he worked at Farmers Creamery. On December 9th, 1912, they had a son, Emory, who was stillborn. After other childbirth complications, Eulalah died on December 12th. After the death of his wife and baby, Edward resigned his position at Farmers Creamery and said he would never live in Mayville again.
Edward later married Effie Pfaff on October 22nd, 1914. In 1916, Edward worked at Elmer Creamery in Argyle, and then in 1917 he moved to Lapeer Creamery. On October 1st, 1918, he bought the Thumb Creamery in Caro. In 1922, Edward & Effie had a daughter, Louise. In 1945, Edward retired from the creamery business and served on the Tuscola Water and Drain Commission for 10 years. He passed away on March 8, 1956, at the age of 67.
