Thank You for visiting my sister Elva. Your thoughtful and kind visit is very appreciated by our family. God bless.
༺⊰❁ Elva Mae Sterling Kinner Whitlock was the only child of Robert Leroy and Nancy Ann Campbell Sterling, born on March 15, 1947 in Amelia, Ohio.
While her father was in the hospital for tuberculosis in Dayton, Ohio her mother abandoned her, leaving her to be cared for and deeply loved by her Grandma Elva Sterling, and aunts and uncles. It was her loving Aunt Bea (Bernice Sterling Gee) who found her alone sitting in her high-chair with raw bacon. Later in June of 1953 her father married Meriel Anna Steinberger, who loved and raised Elva Mae as if she were her own daughter. It wasn't until the mid to late 1970s that she was reconciled again with her birth mother. After meeting her birth mother Elva told Meriel she was her real mother. Though Elva reconciled with her mother they never did bond as mother and daughter.
In 1964 Elva married Ronald Kinner of Morrow, Warren County, Ohio, and in September she had Kristine Alice Kinner. While she was carrying Kristine she had a severe case if scarlet fever and the baby was born deaf. When Kristine was about 6 months old Elva and Ronnie separated and soon divorced. She met Brand Kingsley Whitlock of Cincinnati, Ohio around 1966. After they married Brand adopted Kristine as his own daughter. They had two sons together: Brand Kingsley Whitlock, Jr. And Steven Laurence Whitlock, two years apart, both born on their Grandpa Bob's birthday November 18.
When Kristine was 6 years old she was enrolled at St. Rita's School of the Deaf where she quickly learned sign language. The grandparents of Kristine Alice (Kinner Whitlock) Abner: Earl Lester Kinner and Dora Ellen Reed Kinner.
Elva loved to garden, knit and crochet, and collect bone china tea pots and tea cups with matching saucers. She was an excellent artist and loved antiques. She made the best fried potatoes! She loved her cups of coffee and Pepsi chilled straight from the glass bottle. Her all time favorite singer was Elvis Presley.
She contracted kidney cancer which later claimed her life.
May my sister Elva Mae rest in peace and the love of God.
