James Chambers-Pvt. in the NJ and VA lines during the Revolutionary War. Fought in the Battles of Guilford Courthouse and Eutaw Springs among others. Entered the war at the age of 15.

In his Pension Files, James Chambers states that when news of peace was proclaimed he was with the Southern Army at Georgetown near Charles Town, South Carolina and afterward was sent by water to the Head of the Elk (The Elk River) in Maryland where he was dismissed til called upon again. (*was not called again) James returned to Monmouth County, NJ and resumed his occupation as a farmer. He married Margaret Reynolds. They had children: Job, Solomon, Abigail, Phoebe, Joseph, John, Hannah, Sarah, and Margaret
