Thomas G. Bromfield, 80, of East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Hospice of the VNA Inpatient Unit of the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Oct. 23, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late William and Molly Ford Bromfield. He was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1946, where he was an all scholastic football end, and attended Mansfield University.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the PA State Liquor Board for many years; prior to that, he had been employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Thomas owned and raised horses for harness racing at the Pocono Downs.
He was preceded in death by a niece, Mollie A. Newman, who passed away in 1980.
Surviving are a sister, Frances Newman, of Forty Fort; nieces Sally (Newman) Van Scoy, of Larksville, and Amy (Newman) and her husband, Ron Fry, of Larksville; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.
