ENGLAND RITES HELD TUESDAY IN VIRGINIA
Funeral services for Lt. Col. John B. England, 31, killed in the crash of a jet plane in France, November 17, were held in Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 30.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh England, also J.R. Hutchison and Jack Hutchison attended the service, going by plane from Memphis.
Col. England was born in Caruthersville and entered cadet training in 1942, receiving his commission the following year. During World War II he became an ace fighter pilot by destroying 19 German planes. At the time of his death he was commanding officer of the 389th Fighter Bomber Squadron and was returning from a routine training flight when the accident occurred.
Survivors in addition to his parents are his wife, Marilyn, and three children who live in Alexandria, La., where he was formerly stationed and a brother, George England, of Detroit, Mich., who also attended the funeral service.
