"J. DE LA MONTANYA
Funeral was held Saturday at Keaton's Mortuary, San Rafael, for James De La Montanya who died Friday at his home in Black Point after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 57.
De La Montanya was captain of the fishing boat Nobilis from Port Sonoma. He entered the sports fishing business about three years ago after working as a construction foreman and surveyor.
A native of San Rafael, he was the son of the late Herbert De La Montanya, a Marin County judge.
He was a member of Associated Sport Fishing, Ducks Unlimited, California Water Fowlers Association and San Pablo Bay Sportsmen.
During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines and had been a Black Point resident for about eight years.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie De La Montanya of Black Point; three sons, James H. De La Montanya and Ralph De La Montanya, both of Novato, and George De La Montanya of Santa Rosa; a daughter, Barbara O'Brien of Concord; and two brothers, Lloyd De La Montanya of Fort Jones, Siskiyou county and Nick De La Montanya of San Francisco.
Burial was at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael."
