Russian artist, novelist, critic and director. He was the husband of V.I. Motyleva-Annenkova (second marriage). He wrote under the pseudonym Boris Temiryazev. He studied law at St. Petersburg University. In 1911-1912 he was in France. He visited the workshops of F. Vallotton, and of M. Denis, Academy La Grande Shomer and La Paulette. From 1913 he designed the scenery fot about 50 plays for St. Petersburg and Moscow theaters. In charge of set design of the theater, "Distorting Mirror". He painted for the St. Petersburg journals. He created an extensive gallery of paintings and drawings of portraits of his contemporaries. In 1924, he visited Italy, and did not return to Russia, and in 1925 he settled in Paris. His atistic career began with the design of the House of artist in Paris. Member of the Union of Russian artists in France, and of the Union of Russian Writers and Journalists in Paris. He participated in the International Exhibition of Modern Art in Bordeaux (1927). In 1930, he handed over the pictures for the lottery for the benefit of needy members of the Company's "The World of Art". Participated in the salons of Independent, Autumn, the Tuileries and others, and from 1928 he held solo exhibitions. Compleated scenery and costumes for the theater of N. Baliyev (1931-1933), Russian ballet of B. Nijinska (1933-1934), the Prague group of the Moscow Art Theatre (MAT) (1935), etc. He participated in the gatherings of the Union to return to his homeland, presented reports and recollections. In 1938, set up the play "The Event" of V. Sirin, in the Russian theater in Paris. From 1933 he worked in cinema, where performed the sets and costumes for more than 60 films. During the German occupation he set operas "The Queen of Spades" and "Eugene Onegin" by P.I. Tchaikovsky and "The Marriage" by M.P. Mussorgsky in the Pleyel's hall. After World War II, he worked in the Union of Soviet Patriots (MTP), participated in its exhibitions (1945, 1946), for gatherings, meetings, criticized the emigration of the theater (1945). Published in the newspaper "Honest Elephant" (1945). President of the Trade Union of Cinematographers of technical staff in France. In June 1965 in Paris, he met with the A.A. Akhmatova. He was a member of the Committee for the compilation "The Golden Book of the Russian emigration."
