George R. Coney, 63, 1610 West 23rd, a salesman with Frontier Furniture Co. of Odessa, was pronounced dead on arrival at Medical Center Hospital Thursday at 8:30 a.m.

Coney was released from the hospital Wednesday after surgery. He became ill at his home and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. His physician pronounced him dead. The cause of death was apparently heart trouble.

Services for Coney are pending.

Among his survivors are his wife, Betty, of the home; a daughter Susan, a student at the University of Texas in Austin; a son Steve, a computer programmer for the Manned Space Craft Center in Houston; and three sons in Georgia.

Funeral services for George R. Coney, 63, 1610 West 23rd, a salesman with Frontier Furniture Co. of Odessa, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Medical Center Hospital Thursday at 8:30 a.m. of natural causes.

Born June 8, 1907, in Vinita, Okla., he was married there Feb. 11, 1942, to Marietta (Betty) Williams. He moved to Odessa in 1952 from Pryor, Okla. He was a member of the Odessa Bible Church.

Survivors are his widow; four sons, Stephen D. Coney of Houston and George Coney IV, Sam Coney and John L. Coney, all of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Susan C. Coney, a student at the University of Texas in Austin; a brother, Malcolm Coney of Dallas; and eight grandchildren.
