Mrs. Blanche E. Whitcomb, 86, 133 W. Mechanic St., died Sunday at 11:06 p.m. at Heritage House Convalescent Center where she had been a patient over four years. She had been ill since sustaining a fractured hip in a fall at her home in November, 1966.
Mrs. Whitcomb lived in Shelby County practically all of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Born in Laurel Dec. 14, 1884, the daughter of Jerome and Isabelle (Beggs) McDaniel, she was married to David H. Whitcomb on Oct. 15, 1914 and he died June 25, 1951.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Budd G. (Isabelle) Brown, West Lafayette, and Mrs. Norman C. (Martha) Forster, Traverse city, Mich.; a son, Harry H. Whitcomb, Shelbyville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A sister and brother preceded in death.
Services were Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Ewing Mortuary, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends called at the mortuary Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
