Amos E. Erickson, 82, passed on to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 28 at Faith Temple Church, Sioux Falls, with interment at the Hills of Rest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Friday, April 27 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 PM.

Amos E. Erickson was born on October 7, 1929 to Hjalmer and Jennie (Hugos) Erickson on a farm east of Toronto, SD. He attended a rural school near there and worked with his father and brothers on the farm until the family moved to Sioux Falls in 1948.

Amos was united in marriage with Marleen Finck on October 24, 1953. They lived for a while in Deadwood, SD. Amos enjoyed working at the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, SD and helped in the building of the Terry Peak Ski Lift. They moved back to Sioux Falls in 1955. He worked for Josten Concrete and spent 12 years working for Sunshine Foods in the produce warehouse. In 1968, he bought Ern's Sanitary Service from his brother-in-law, Ernest Thompson. He was proud to be the owner and operator of the route for 24 years until he retired in 1991. From 1995 to 2010, he enjoyed helping his brother-in-law and later his nephew on their farm near Lennox.

Amos will be greatly missed by his wife, Marleen; his daughters, Kristie Yusella and her husband, Gary, Sioux Falls, Melanie Fuller and her husband, Jeff, Sioux Falls; granddaughters, Amy Madetzke and her husband, Barry, Colorado Springs, CO, Abbie Yusella, Sioux Falls, Megen Wulf, Sioux Falls; and grandson, Taylor Wulf, Sioux Falls; great-grandsons, Mason, Preston and Aiden; sisters, Bernice Thompson, Sioux Falls, Betty Lambert and her husband, Bert, Diamond Bar, CA, Jan Madden, Las Vegas, NV, DiAnn Milbauer and her husband, Bob, Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Hiram and Norris; his sisters, Doris Rolfson, Amy Hannum and Mavis Wildeboer.
