Valentine was born to William Allen (b.1692 in York Co., Virginia - d. 1752) and Mary Hunt Allen (1695-1763). On 26 February 1753 he married Nancy Ann Arnold.

Some have also stated that famous descendants are Laura Welch Bush and John McCain.

Valentine fought in the Revolutionary War as a Lt. Col. in the North Carolina Militia and therefore played a part in creating this great nation of ours!

Valentine is memorialized on a monument erected by the D.A.R. in Glenn's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Ayersville, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.
