David L. Bellefeuille, age 71, of Holyoke, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Rosario and Jeannette (Brisebois) Bellefeuille and graduated from South Hadley High School and Holyoke Community College. David was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era and had moved to Holyoke from South Hadley in 1978. He was a member of Local 371 of the United Food and Commercial Workers for 46 years, working at Finest Supermarket, Edwards Supermarket and several area Stop and Shop stores, retiring in 2007. A very active person, David was Commander of American Legion Post 25, President of the South Hadley Senior Travel Club, a poll worker for municipal elections, and was honored as Holyoke’s Veteran of the Year in 2013. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lucille (Bedard) Bellefeuille; two daughters and their husbands, Nicole and Edward Carter of Townsend, MA and Danielle and Richard Betters of Canton, MA; brother-in-law, Paul Bedard and his wife Kathy of Holyoke; and a granddaughter-to-be, Lyla Jean Betters. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. There are no calling hours. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
