Harry Benedetti, 72, formerly of Palmer, Mass., died Saturday in Clearwater Hospital. He was a co-owner of the former Benedetti's Fruit Market in Palmer, and then worked for the Postal Service there before his retirement. Born in Italy, he lived many years in Palmer, before moving to St. Petersburg six years ago. He was a Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He leaves his wife, Iris Benedetti; a son, David of Palmer; three daughters, Gina O'Brien of California, Pamela Hebert of Springfield, Mass., and Cynthia Benedetti of Springfield's Indian Orchard section; a brother, Robert of Palmer; 10 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. A graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family in the Bay Pines National Cemetery of Veterans Park. The National Cremation Society is in charge, and memorial contributions may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation.

He came here in 1986 from his native Palmer, Mass., where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. An Army veteran of World War II, h served in the 83rd Infantry, and was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the DAV. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Iris; a son, David H., Palmer; three daughters, Gina Marie O'Brien, Newbury Park, Calif., Pamela Hebert, Springfield, Mass., and Cynthia Benedetti, Indian Orchard, Mass.; a brother, Robert, Palmer; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. National Cremation Society, St. Petersburg.
