Services for long time Cleburne resident Albert H. Garner Sr., 83, will be conducted Jan. 05, at 10:30 a.m., in Calvary Baptist Church. Garner died Jan. 03 at his residence.

Garner may be best known in this area for his large collection of automobile hubcaps which he sold from his garage behind his home. According to the 1981 article about Garner in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, he began his collection of hubcaps, in 1967, while collecting scrap iron in his spare time. In 1981, the collection numbered around 6000, and Garner grouped them according to the make of automobile to which they belong.

Garner began devoting the majority of his time to the hubcap business after retiring from his 45 years career as a building contractor.

In pursuit of his hobby, Garner searched dump sites for those stainless steel "Works of art" and he drove as far as El Paso on one such quest. On a "good trip" Garner would return with as many as 50 or 60 "new" treasures. He often would enlist the assistance of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews to scout the area for lost and abandoned hubcaps.

Garner was born Feb. 06, 1906, in Dennison, the son of George Washington and Annie Ellen Garner. He married Fannie Mae Lancaster, in Mineral Wells, on Dec. 16, 1940. He had been a resident of Cleburne for 41 years and was a Baptist.

The Rev. Charles Payne and the Rev. Steve Robinson will officiate during services and burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Carl Pruitt, Curtis Pruitt, David Pruitt, Jimmy Adair, Alan Kyle and George Bonham.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Massey, Melvin Steadman, J. T. Brown and John Sheffield.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fannie Mae Garner of Cleburne; two sons, Albert H. Garner Jr., of Joshua and Jimmy Lancaster of Cleburne; two daughters, Dorothy Williams of Cleburne and Evelyn Archer of Godley; one brother Dee Garner of Cleburne; two sisters, Anita Hemness and Maxine Day, both of Phoenix Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.

Martins Funeral Home has Charge of arrangements.
