Kevin Kendall Nunnink, Mission Hills, Kansas, whose name was synonymous with real state appraisals in the Kansas City area, died Tuesday at Saint Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO. He was 57.
He was very proud that he grew up working on the Katy railroad, where his father also worked. Upon graduating from Parsons High School in 1970, Kevin moved on to the University of Kansas, where he pledged Sigma Chi and graduated in 1974. After college, Kevin moved to Kansas City, where he met Jo, the love of his life.
Kevin was chairman and a founding member of Integra Realty Resources, Inc. which is the nation's largest property valuation and consulting firm. He was also CEO of IRR Corporate & Public Finance, A Kansas City-based investment banking firm specializing in public and private partnerships for real estate transactions ranging from $50 to $750 million; chairman of IRR-Residential LLC; a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City; and the sole outside director of the Hunt Midwest Real Estate Group.
Kevin was instrumental in bringing a NASCAR race track, Kansas Speedway, and nearly two million square feet of entertainment retail development to the Kansas City area.
Kevin was a dedicated member of his local community. He was the President of the Board of Directors of SAFE (The Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund), an organization dedicated to supporting the families of local law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who have perished while protecting the Kansas City community. He was also involved in the Kansas City Young President's Organization, the Heart of American Girl Scouts and the Johnson County Cancer Society.
He was cremated, and the urn, with his ashes in it, was buried, Fr. John J. Dick, officiating, in the back yard, of his vacation house, on the shore of Grand Lake, near Grove, OK, Kevin's favorite place in the whole world
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lovisa Nunnink, as well as his baby brother Joseph, of Parsons, KS. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann, his children Brandon and Morgan, his adoring sister Dee, his beloved nephews Matt & Ryan Mattes and Cory Wells, his grand nephew Carson, and his hunting and walking partner, Lilly.
