WICHITA — Edward J. "Ed" LaForge, 57, of Wichita, formerly of Parsons, died at 1:08 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Oct. 14, 1952, in Parsons to Edward "Bernard" and Eugenia B. "Jeanie" (VanLeeuwen) LaForge. He grew up in Parsons and attended schools in St. Paul and Parsons. Following graduation from high school, he worked for the Katy Railroad. In 1974, he moved to Wichita, where he worked as an aircraft cabinet builder.
Mr. LaForge enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting firewood and playing disc golf.
He married Marcia "Sue" Moody. They later divorced.
Survivors include five brothers, Frank LaForge and his wife, Lynnette, of Caney and Gary LaForge and his wife, Lori, Donnie LaForge and his wife, Vicki, and David LaForge, all of Parsons, and Ron LaForge of Milwaukee, Wis.; four sisters, Carol Hogelin and her husband, Bill, Rita Drisdell and her husband, Doug, Deanna Heady and her husband, Troy, Mary Kay Dickens and her husband, Ron, all of Parsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin "Brant" LaForge on June 10, 1991; and his parents, Bernard LaForge on Sept. 8, 1989, and Jeanie LaForge on Sept. 28, 2009.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
