Vliet, Andrew R., Oakland County. Enlisted in Battery A, May 28. 1861, at Detroit, for 3 years, age 28. Mustered May 28, 1861. Died from result of being kicked by a horse at Huntsville, Ala., May 31, 1862. Buried in National Cemetery at Chattanooga, Tenn.

Andrew is the son of William Van Buskirk Vliet (b. 21 Nov. 1797; d. 18 Jan 1880) and Margaret (Patty) Axford (b. 17 April 1803), both originally born and raised in Independence Township, Sussex County (now Warren County), New Jersey. They removed to Oakland County, MI, circa 1835.
