Vicki J. Brannan, 50, of Joplin, and a former Parsons, Kan., resident, died at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

She was born in Parsons on July 24, 1956, to Kenneth and Helen (Alderman) Hanson. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1974. In 1986, she earned an associate's degree in nursing from Labette Community College in Parsons.

From 1986 to 1993, she was employed as a nurse in the pediatric department of Labette County Medical Center in Parsons. She moved to the Joplin area in 1993 and worked as a hospice nurse for St. John's Hospice until becoming disabled in 1998.

On March 25, 1976, she married Gary Brannan in Parsons. He survives.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Joplin. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Brannan, of the home in Joplin; two daughters, Sharon Brannan, Joplin, and Amy Rooks and her husband, Brady, Jasper, Mo.; her mother, Helen Hanson, Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Raymond Hanson, Las Vegas, Harvey Hanson, Las Vegas, and John Hanson, Las Vegas; four sisters, Sharon Kurtz, Omaha, Neb., Patty Butler, Las Vegas, Anna Sawyer, Arlington, Texas, and Jinny Frederick, Rowlett, Texas; sister-in-law, Sharon Brannan-Moss, Inman, Kan.; and special granny, Jo Walker, Parsons.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons with Fr. Jason Borkenhagen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation. They may be left at or sent to Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Box 942, Parsons, Kan. 67357.
