Gwendoline A. Hendrickson, 89, of Cambridge, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at home from a longtime battle with Parkinson's.
Gwen was the beloved wife of Norman M. Hendrickson; loving mother of Merrilyne A. Hendrickson (Scott), Norma-Lee Hendrickson Howland (Philip) and the late Robert W. Hendrickson. Gwen was the caring grandmother of Jill S. O'Neill (Steve), Kyle R. Hendrickson, Kaitlin E. Hendrickson and the late Eric T. Hendrickson,
Gwen was bless to have seven great-grandchildren – Erin O'Neill, Steven O'Neill, Nathan O'Neill, Eric Hendrickson, Emily Wilson, Alexis Dickson and Rob Dickson.
Gwen was born and raised in Plymouth, England. She was the sister to William Joint, the late James Joint and the late Kath Joint Fisher. Gwen was the daughter of the late William Joint and the late Ivy Joint of England.
Gwen was one of the last war brides residing in this area. After serving in the British Royal Air Force in WW II, she arrived in the United States, married Norm and had three children. Gwen worked as a teacher's assistant at Cambridge Central School in the EPC (Early Childhood Perception Curriculum).
Gwen was Past Matron of the Eastern Star and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing (with a local group). Gwen was also a member of the Embury United Methodist Church in Cambridge.
Gwen will be missed greatly by all her friends and family and will be remembered as a caring, loving, giving, warm lady.
Friends can say their last goodbyes at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Immediately following, a private family goodbye will be given to Gwen at the Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
Friends are welcome to gather at the home of Gwen and Norm at 22 Avenue A in Cambridge at 2:00 pm.
