He was 80 years old. He was the Bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese until his reign ended November 14, 2009. His ordination was February 2, 1957. His Consecration was December 30, 1974.

His parents were Irish immigrants who came to America in the 1920's. The Bishop's early years were living with his family in Boston, MA.

Parents: Michael and Margaret (Moran) D'Arcy.

In addition to services, Marian High School in Mishawaka will play host to a rosary in memory of D'Arcy immediately after school Tuesday. It is open to the public and will take place in the school's chapel.
Funeral arrangements:
- Wednesday in South Bend: Reception of the body and morning prayer will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1015 E. Dayton St. Visitation will be held throughout the day. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. A Mass of Transferral celebrated by Bishop Kevin Rhoades will begin at 7 p.m.

- Thursday in Fort Wayne: Reception of the body and morning prayer will begin at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton St. Visitation will continue throughout the day. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. Evening prayer is scheduled for 7 p.m.

- Friday in Fort Wayne: Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at noon. A reception for all will immediately follow at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted privately with the family in the crypt of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
