Garry W. Kohlmeyer, 63, of Angola, Indiana passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, surrounded by his family at his side. He was born on May 18, 1949 to William G. and Irma L. (Baatz) Kohlmeyer in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Garry was also known by his nicknames "Coach" or "Big G" due to his love for coaching his daughter's softball team which he led to a state championship in 2007.

He is survived by his loving companion of 23 years Judith Reely of Angola; their daughters, Carrington Kohlmeyer of Angola, Indiana, and Brittany Kohlmeyer of Angola; one brother Robert G. Kohlmeyer of Fort Wayne; one sister and brother-in-law Bonnie L. and John Zullinger of Merrill, Wisc.; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father William G. Kohlmeyer in 1984 and his mother Irma L. Kohlmeyer in 2008.

Garry graduated from New Haven High School in 1967 and from ITT for electrical engineering.

He worked as manager of Hall's Restaurants in Fort Wayne for many years. His love of cooking led him to purchasing the Sunset Inn on Crooked Lake in Angola, Indiana which he owned and operated for 14 years. Upon selling the Sunset Inn, he worked for Superior Welding Supply in Angola. Then he became administrator of the Angola Moose Lodge until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Angola Moose Lodge, Angola Masonic Lodge #236, Mizpah Shrine Temple in Fort Wayne, Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, and Sons of the American Legion. He was past president of the Pokagon Shrine Club, Angola, Angola Elks Lodge where he was Elk of the Year from 1988-1989, and the Tavern Owners Association.

He drove race cars on the short track at Baerfield, Avilla and Angola.

He was president of his bowling league. He loved golfing with his brother and ending each year with his buddies at Myrtle Beach for 25 years.

His daughters were the love of his life. They enjoyed family vacations to Disney and Hawaii.

He will be sadly missed by his family and all those who came to know him over the years.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Fairview Missionary Church, Angola, with an hour of visitation prior to the services. Rev. Norman Fuller will be officiating. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at Fairview Missionary Church, Angola.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the children's education or to Fairview Missionary Church, Angola.
