Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey C. Baker, 29, of Hesperia, Calif., assigned to 766th Ordnance Company, 63rd Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group, Fort Stewart, Ga. He died May 14, in Sanjaray, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device. He is survived by his adoring wife Vicki and his daughter Audrey. Though he died a hero attempting to help his fellow soldiers, it is important to note that he also lived a hero. He traveled the globe and made friends wherever he went. He never hesitated to help anyone in need and enjoyed mentoring anyone willing to learn. The strength of his character and qualities of humor and kindness will be remembered. This world that he loved and got to know so well will never be the same. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Harvest Christian Fellowship, 6115 Arlington Ave., Riverside, California 92504. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside California 92518. Donations in Sergeant First Class Jeffrey C.
