Cody Dalton Suggs, age 22, of West Alexandria, OH. passed away in Afghanistan, while serving in the Army National Guard. Spc. Suggs was a member of the 1487th Transportation Company based in Piqua, OH. He is the son of Brian and Wendy (Eby) Suggs, West Alexandria. Cody was a 2009 graduate of Twin Valley South High School. He joined the National Guard at the age of 17.

He is survived by his parents, Brian and Wendy, sister, Taylor Suggs, grandparents, Bob and Betty Suggs, Buster and Janet (Crowell) Eby, all of West Alexandria, OH., grandparents, Wanda (Good) and Frank Mauro, of Union, OH., 5 uncles, 2 aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, Mar. 18, 2013 at Salem Lutheran Church, 70 E. Dayton St., West Alexandria, OH. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH. WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Department of Defense says an Ohio soldier has died in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

The department says 22-year-old Spc. Cody D. Suggs of West Alexandria in western Ohio died Thursday at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, as a result of a non-combat incident that remains under investigation. The Defense Department says Suggs was assigned to the Ohio National Guard's 1487th Transportation Company out of Piqua, part of the 371st Sustainment Brigade based in Springfield.
