Carson “Kit” Clements
Carson “Kit” Clements, 76, of 4910 South Amherst Highway, Madison Heights, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998 following a long illness. For 55 years he was the husband of Virginia Mayberry Clements.
Born Aug. 13, 1922 in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Charles Henry and Emma Tomlin Clements. He was a retired machine shop manager with Babcock & Wilcox with 28 years of service. Mr. Clements was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the U.S.S. Pandemus. He was called back to active duty during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Clements was a member of the Amherst County Board of Supervisors for more than 14 years and was an active member of Madison Heights Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Clements and two grandchildren, Billy Clements and Scott Williams.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Zane Clements and his wife, Barbara of Madison Heights and the Rev. Kyle Clements and his wife, Marsha of Orange; one daughter, Kaye Clements Jones and her husband, Michael of Lynchburg; four sisters, Alma Ayers and Delta Watts both of Lexington, Sylvia Clements and Joan Bryant both of Lynchburg; two brothers, Melvin Clements of Md. and Macon Clements of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Madison Heights Christian Church by the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow and the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Madison Heights Christian Church or the Monelison Rescue Squad
