Francisco Chavez Sr., 68, of Sabinal, died June 9, 2006, at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

He was born May 20, 1938, in Sabinal, to Julio and Maria Chavez.

He married Patricia Arredondo in Sabinal.

Chavez was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Raul Arriola, Rodolfo Arriola, Pedro Chavez, Jesus Chavez and Juan Chavez; one sister, Guadalupe Musquiz; and one great-aunt and one great-uncle,Primitiva G. Chavez and Pablo Chavez.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Francisco Chavez Jr. of Sabinal; two daughters, Hilda Orta, and Joni-Chavez Garcia and husband, Bernardo G. "Bernie" Garcia Jr., all of Sabinal; one sister, Ramona Martinez of California; one brother, Jose Chavez of Idaho; five grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of the resurrection was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sabinal.

Interment followed in Sabinal Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bernardo G. Garcia Jr., Guillermo O. Garcia, Antonio Leos, Raul Arriola Jr., Michael Montalvo and Gilbert Borrego.
